Aloha Hawaii

Here's our final view of Hawaii. I'm so glad I get to ride inside the plane. I don't think I could flap for 10 hours straight! It was a wonderful trip. I just wish I hadn't heard that Chicago is having record lows right now. It was 85 in Honolulu when we left. It will be -40 in Chicago when we land. OUCH!

Hawaii- the last day.

Well, it's the final day of the trip. This is Mr. and Mrs. Ima Pigeon. They were a lovely couple, although a bit flightly at times. They had this strange aversion to being photographed with me, but were more than happy to pose by themselves.

As you can see, I took part in a time-share presentation. I'm considering purchasing this picturesque roost so I can have my own little place on Waikiki.

Hawaii Day 2 part 3

Here I am at the luau at Paradise Cove. The food and drinks were delicious, and the entertainment was awesome! Sadly, I couldn't get any of the hula honeys to pose with me. I think they were just playing hard to get!!

Hawaii- Day 2 part 2

I tried to pick up a beach babe, but to no avail.

Mmmm, frozen pineapple and raspberry slushies. Love them!

Here I am playing on Waikiki Beach. It was 85+ degrees that day, but the water was really cold, so I just played in the sand.

Hawaii Day 2

Ahhhh. I feel so refreshed after a good night's sleep. I must admit I was rather tired after the long flight. Now I'm ready for the wedding festivities at Paradise Cove. Anna, why are you looking at me like that? What do you mean I'm not invited to the wedding?! I thought I was giving the bride away! You mean she chose her father over ME?! I'm hurt! Well, can I at least go to the wedding? I might run into some of my tropical cousins in the trees. I can't? How about the luau? I can? YES! Grass skirts, hula girls, frozen drinks, and roasted pork here I come!
So, after spending the afternoon sitting on the lanai and enjoying the gorgeous scenery, Anna and her family returned from the wedding. They all looked beautiful, especially the blushing bride. Anna had a surprise for me too. As the luau didn't take place until tonight, we were going to spend the rest of the afternoon on Waikiki Beach.

Benny in Australia with Julie - pictures only

OK, Benny. Here's the deal: I uploaded all of my sister's pictures of you (with and without her) to a photobucket. She said she would be able to dictate your trip Down Under, so I'm going to defer to her wishes. She is, after all, the one with military experience. But I did want everyone to see how much fun you were having!

She's hoping to come back in mid-March, so if you can wait that long, I'm sure she would appreciate it. OK? Good. Thanks a bunch, Benny. I knew you were a good egg.

Hawaii Trip- Day 1

Friday, January 9, 2009. The place: Kathy's car. The time: 4:15 p.m. We begin our trip West by driving... East?! Ahh, apparently this is some new geography thing. We head the opposite direction to get to our destination. Wait a minute. Why are we stopping in Sterling at a Farm and Fleet? Are you buying me chicken feed? What do you mean your dad needs shoes, Anna?! No one consulted ME on this little side excursion. This trip is getting weird already! After wandering around Sterling and figuring out that you need to type in an address in the Tom-Tom, not just a city, we were on our way to Bartlett, Illinois. Not quite the exotic, Hawaiian destination I was expecting, but at least we got to see a slide presentation of Vietnam. I skillfully avoided being plucked and boiled by Mrs. Pham and went to bed dreaming alternately of sandy beaches and small, Asian mommies chasing me with a cleaver! Will this trip ever begin?!
